Humanities Mixtape: Rewinding the 1980s

Join us for a multidisciplinary Humanities Symposium on the 1980s, presented by Bringing Humanities to life at Â鶹´«Ã½. This engaging event will explore how we remember and interpret one of the most iconic decades in recent history from the perspective of 2025.
 
Through a humanities-based lens, the symposium will dive into topics like:
  • How pop culture and trends laud and celebrate the era, particularly when it comes to popular culture itself.
  • What the 1980s imagined about today: What did they get right? What did they get absurdly wrong?
  • The view from 40 years into the future: How might 2065 look back at our time?
  • Local, national, and international topics and trends rooted in the 1980s.

Whether you're a scholar, student, educator or just a fan of retro and big questions, this symposium invites you to reflect on the past, examine the present and imagine the future.

Registration

All registration has been moved to on-site. 

Registration Options

  • Full Event Registration: $49
  • Individual Day Registration: $25 per day
  • Free Employee/Student Registration (does not include meals or swag).

OLLI Member Discount
Current OLLI members can register for the full event for a discounted rate of $39 or individual day for $20.
 
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations on or after Monday, October 13, 2025 are not refundable. If registration is cancelled in writing on or before Friday, October 10, 2025, a 50% refund will be issued back to the original payment method. These fees will be waived for OLLI members.

Cancellation Policy: No refunds will be allowed if requested less than 21 days before the event (on or before October 1, 2025). A 25% refund will be allowed if requested 22-89 days before the event (July 25 - September 30, 2025).
